Caroline is one year old—can you believe it? I met up with her parents at Congress Avenue Barrier Free Park at Boynton Beach in June on an incredibly hot day.

It feels like just yesterday that I photographed Caroline’s newborn session, so I was tickled when her mom called me up to capture her 1-year portraits! I just love seeing these little ones grow and change in their first year, and it’s always a pleasure to work with families over time. I love the friendships and love that grows with a long relationship like that!

Little Caroline was walking fairly well at her session and played with a few of the props that I’d brought, including a wooden horse that she looked so adorable standing next to! I also loved the pictures of Caroline sitting on my little gray bench.

We shot this session at a location that was part playground, part park—which meant Caroline had all sorts of opportunities for fun and adventure. My favorite by far was when Caroline tried out the swing for the first time. It was really more of a big saucer-like platform than a swing, so multiple people could get on it and swing back and forth. And since Caroline was naturally curious, especially around other children, the swing was too much to pass up, clearly! I got this great picture of Caroline looking off to the side with her hands together. I couldn’t have posed her better if I tried! Just look at how sweet she looks!

Even with how much fun it was to watch this sweet little girl having fun, I have to admit that I think we were all glad when it was time to pack up. Not because we were bored or didn’t have fun—no! It’s just that it’s very, very hot in Florida in June! Very. Did I mention it was hot? Because it was HOT.
